Silver Eagle Beverages, one of the nation’s largest Anheuser-Busch wholesalers, today announced charitable donations to the San Antonio Food Bank and South Texas Food Bank to help alleviate the unprecedented growing need for food throughout the region. The charitable gifts include a $50,000 donation to the San Antonio Food Bank from Silver Eagle Beverages and John L. Nau III, Chairman and CEO of Silver Eagle Beverages.

Additionally, Silver Eagle Beverages is providing a $10,000 contribution to the South Texas Food Bank to support food pantries in Kinney, Maverick and Val Verde counties, which are all located within Silver Eagle Beverages’ distribution territory.

“Silver Eagle Beverages is pleased to support the San Antonio Food Bank and the South Texas Food Bank as they work to provide food for families and individuals in need due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said John L. Nau III, Chairman and CEO of Silver Eagle Beverages.

Currently, the San Antonio Food Bank is serving 120,000 people per week, double the average amount prior to COVID-19.

“We have seen a devastating economic impact from the COVID-19 virus and its domino effect into the lives of our neighbors and friends. The San Antonio Food Bank has worked tirelessly to meet the increase in demand for food and resources, but we depend wholeheartedly on the community to help us in this struggle. The employees of Silver Eagle, along with the company’s owner John Nau, have been longtime neighbors and partners of the Food Bank. Helping us set the table for those needing help for the first time is an example of the character and charity of this outstanding corporate partner. We are so humbled and grateful for the support,” said Eric Cooper, CEO & President of the San Antonio Food Bank.

“We are very grateful for this donation from Silver Eagle Beverages that will allow us to provide 100,000 meals to our clients during these trying times,” said Alma Boubel, Executive Director of the South Texas Food Bank. “In the past five weeks, we are proud to say that we have provided COVID-19 Emergency Food Boxes to 70,000 South Texans in need, in addition to the 130,000 existing clients who receive our regular services.”
